Pet allergies can be horrible especially when you just want to snuggle up with the animal you love. I have a friend who recently asked me about natural solutions to pet allergies. She didn’t want to take medication so I wanted to help the best I could and thus my research began. Here are my results…
Lemon Essential Oil
The first thing I shared with her was to diffuse Lemon Essential Oil in the home. This is helpful because Lemon promotes clean air and helps air purification. By diffusing the Lemon Essential Oil it will help eliminate the allergens causing the problems.
Grooming/Cleaning
Keeping your pets up to date on their baths and haircuts will prevent a massive amount of dander buildup. Also cleaning the bed or you sheets and upholstery helps. Eliminating a buildup in the house is a key to lessen allergy symptoms
Pet Free Zone
Can you create a space in your home where no pets are allowed? Maybe a single room. This can be a space to go when you need to breathe in air without pet dander. Of course the outdoors and fresh air is a great option too. In colder months a warm room inside may be nicer.
Neti Pot
Another alternative is the use of a Neti Pot. A Neti Pot assist in cleaning out the sinuses. Ridding the body of the allergens that have entered. It is consider a Nasal Wash System and has be used for thousands of years in Eastern Medicine. Using a salt water mixture to rinse out those unwanted particles.
Omega-3
Omega- 3 Fatty acids help our bodies to fight inflammation. According to Mother Earth News there was a German Study Published in Allergy that found people who had a diet rich in omega-3s were less likely to have allergy symptoms. Omega-3 fatty acids are powerful compounds. They can be found in foods such as nuts, flaxseed oil, grass-feed meat and eggs.
Healthy Diet/Immune Supportive Food
Eating a healthy diet ensures your body’s ability to fight allergens and be healthy. Eat a diet rich in fruits and veggies. And eating in season. Honey is also known to help with allergies. Food the support our immune systems are garlic, green tea, ginger, and coconut oil. Include those food in your diet for support in fighting the allergens.
I hope this helps you to love your Pet and Live with Ease!
