The summer is packed with fresh fruit and sometimes we get so excited we buy too much! At least I do…between pick your own fruit fun for the little ones and all the great local produce at the local farms fruit in the summer is on over load! One of our favorite recipes to make with our excess fruit is jam!
I do freeze a good bit of the fruit for the winter time, which can later be used to make jam as well. Why make your own jam?
- Its Simple, quick, and easy…
- Its Fresh and Delicious!
- No preservatives or added sugar or toxins
- There are only 3 or 4 ingredients depending on the fruit!
Okay have I convinced you? I hope so because this is one you will be so happy you made at home!
What you Need

2-4 TBSP of Honey Local or Organic(Depending on how sweet you want it 3 TBSP is usually a save choice)
-
1-2 TBSP of Chia Seeds
-
2 TBSP Lemon Juice for Blueberry Jam only (Optional)
-
Instructions
-
Smash your fruit using your spoon or a Masher. Reduce Heat to Low. (A masher looks like this)
-
Add your Chia Seeds. Mixing together well.
-
Turn Heat back up to your original setting and cook until jam thickens. About 5 more minutes.
-
Once Jam becomes thick, turn off heat and allow to sit for about 5 minutes and then transfer to your jars.
-
I allow for the Jam to cool an additional 10-15 minute before placing it into the fridge.
Viola, You have your Fresh and Delicious Jam! It will last 2 weeks in your fridge…Enjoy!
